Health Fairs in the Workplace

Organizations have been established across the country which, on occasion or at regularly schedule time, come into businesses to check the wellness of employees — all done on a voluntary basis.  These organizations often send a nurse and eye care specialist to provide free services to any employee interested in participating.

Services typically include blood pressure and vision checks.  Most often, these professionals bring with them valuable information on obesity issues, the importance of a healthy, well-balanced diet, and techniques for reducing or eliminating stress.  Additionally, the professionals may also be available to discuss other concerns an employee might have.

Today, many businesses are overwhelmed as they deal with heavy workloads and reduced staff levels.  The result can often be increased stress and resultant illness.  Because of this, these sorts of free checkup services, given at an employer-sponsored health fair are greatly appreciated and often found to be helpful.  Employees realize that while they are being asked to work hard, their employer also cares about their health and is willing to take extra steps to help.  In addition to the more basic types of checkups, other health-related options include free CPR or First Aid classes that are often available
