Negativism is a frequent challenge that supervisors need to deal with.
If left "unchecked" it will most definitely spread and has the potential to do some costly
damage.
The source of negativism can be varied including: personal issues, individual attitudes
or personalities, constant negative feedback, harsh criticism, or even burnout. What can you do to overcome negativism?
Provide encouragement for employees when you see them struggling.
When a project is done well give positive feedback in the form of verbal praise, monetary
rewards, additional time off or public recognition.
Above all, remind employees that they have choices and that their
contribution makes a difference in the success or failure of the organization and team.
