Logical Office Assignments

The corner office with a window has always been seen as a symbol of power and
prestige. Employees tend to place great emphasis on the location of their office or workspace. So what do you do when there aren't enough "corner offices" to go around?
One way to deal with this
is to have an objective system in place. With logical office assignments – perhaps based on seniority or years of service – you can easily explain the rational behind who is placed where and eliminate
grudges and hard feelings.
Another method is to create a sense of prestige in relation to office placement. For
example, sometimes the administrative assistant or receptionist is held in lower regard because he or she sits in an open area.
Once explained that this person offers the first and most important
contact with clients, the perception of "importance" can be drastically increased.
